About the Indoor Arena
In May of 2022, Freedom Reins purchased 5 acres of land adjacent to the property upon which we currently operate. The Freedom Reins’ family and many volunteers have been working to clear 2 acres of this property with the goal of eventually having an indoor facility on site.
While we continue to experience growth with the riding program, we have quickly realized that the need for our services is great, and we are not able to keep up with the demand without an indoor riding facility to operate year-round. To grow this program and to counteract the weather we’ve been experiencing, which prohibits lessons from taking place outdoors, we genuinely need an indoor ring. School and agency programs look for adaptive activities for their students and clients year-round. Please remember that most of our participants are limited by physical, emotional, and sensory challenges and struggle to find appropriate programming year-roundto address their individual needs.
Our Board has been working diligently to find and obtain grants and gifts in kind that will assist with the costs of building this indoor arena and we are hoping and intending to continue this process. We are reaching out to the community for your support in this endeavor. Freedom Reins is currently the only therapeutic riding program within a 50-mile radius of Keene. Due to the pandemic, financial constraints of other non-profit programs, and the weather over the past year, which has caused hay supplies to dwindle, the other programs in Southern VT and Southwestern NH have closed.
No one disputes that there is an overwhelming need in this region for our program. We have made a commitment to purchasing the land. We have also purchased haying equipment and committed personal labor to save costs by very appreciatively haying the fields of a local resident donor in hopes of providing sustainability to this program.
We need your help to make this happen.
You can help us by donating, volunteering, and so much more!
